A Little Industry Support

I called my friend Delinda yesterday, and in our conversation I mentioned that I had just dropped over one hundred dollars in the bookstore over the weekend. (While I'm all for supporting the publishing industry - after all, I am hoping to join it someday - I felt a little guilty spending that much at one time, most of it for myself.)

Her reply? "I got you beat. I spent a hundred fifty."

Merry Christmas, Publishing!!

On a side note, I've been procrastinating about doing a NaNo post. (I know everyone is just DYING to read about that one!) But I did learn a couple of things. Maybe later. I need to procastinate some more. It seems to be what I do best.

A Princess Story - kind of

I'm sitting here trying to decide what to blog about today while my hubby, Chevy (not his real name), and the kids are in the bedroom telling each other stories.
Audrey (not her real name, either): Here's a princess story. You can laugh at it, too. There was a princess, and she had a carriage, and she rode in a balloon. Then there was a witch. (I guess I should tell you Audrey is very young so you will be impressed with her storytelling rather than shake your head at it.)
Now there is some discussion, and the story gets sidelined. Then Chevy decides to tell a story.
Chevy: Okay, I'm going to tell you a real princess story. Once upon a time...
And he begins to tell the story of how he met the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. She was so pretty she had to be a princess. (He must know I am listening, and is trying to earn extra points.) At this point, there is a question from the audience.
Russ (not his real name either, obviously): You're talking about Mom, aren't you!
Ah, smart boy. He just earned extra points, too.
