My First Limo Ride

That's right, folks. I took my first limo ride yesterday. And it was a trip full of all the excitement and glamour you might expect - especially if you can picture twenty third graders screaming in the back.

Ah, the perks of being in the PTO. Trip after trip, we escorted 119 elementary students to lunch, where pizza and coke were enjoyed by all. (And just so you know, in Oklahoma coke can mean any carbonated beverage, even if we really mean something else like Dr. Pepper or Diet Coke. It can get confusing sometimes.)

It was a fast and furious day, after which I came home and crashed on the couch. I wish I could find a clip of the movie Overboard where Goldie Hawn is sitting on the couch saying "Bu bu bu bu bu", because that's how I felt.

Now, don't get me wrong. I had a good time. Not as good as the students, but it was a fun day for me. I'm just glad it will be a full year before we get to do it again.

Editing your novel is like pouring bleach down your kitchen sink. They both get the stink out.

Yes, today I am cleaning my house. Tonight, it's NaNo time! (Right now I'm behind on both!)

My NaNo Update

Okay, so we're on Day 5 of NaNo, and I'm 6,000 words in. And I hate my story.

Hate it.

But you know what? I'm not quitting, at least not yet. This is only my second attempt at novel writing. I still haven't finished the first draft of my first attempt (but I'm close), but I shelved it to try NaNo.

I've read on other blogs (by both published and unpublished writers, by the way) that writing is hard work. A lot of times these guys didn't want to finish, but persevered. I've read how these writers got tired of their stories, too, but kept on trucking. And so many times, they were pleasantly surprised by what they ended up with.

I'm going to keep going, because I am hoping to be surprised, too.

And even if I still hate it when I'm finished, at least I will have proven to myself that I can do this, even if it is HARD.

Good luck to all NaNoWriMos!!
